In an era marked by rapid urbanisation, climate change and increasing socio-economic disparities, the resilience and sustainability of urban environments are critical to the global development agenda. This Lunch Forum will explore how sustainable urban renewal strategies can serve as powerful tools to reshape cities into inclusive, livable, and environmentally responsible spaces—directly contributing to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities.
The implementation of the Urban Renewal Act, is taking bold steps to rejuvenate aging urban areas, improve quality of life and promote long-term urban resilience for our capital city. This session will showcase forward-looking initiatives and examine how such policies can serve as models for sustainable urban renewal both locally and globally.
Lunch Forum Objectives
1)To highlight the role of urban renewal in advancing SDG 11 and related sustainability goals.
2) To present our City’s approach and key initiatives under the Urban Renewal Act as a case study in sustainable city transformation.
3) To explore best practices and innovative models for inclusive, climate-resilient and community-centered urban renewal.
4) To encourage dialogue among policymakers, urban planners, private sector stakeholders and civil society on scalable solutions for resilient city development.
